Texas Invitational: Tough competition for girls’ basketball gold

As the McDonald’s Texas Invitational draws near, one thing is for sure, competition for the girls’ 6A Gold Championship will be fierce.

The Judson Rockets basketball team, ranked fourth in Texas, leads an impressive line-up of teams slated to begin play in the Invitational, which starts at 9 a.m., Thursday Nov. 21.

Before the Rockets are eligible to compete for the gold championship during bracket play, they must face Klein Oak and North Crowley on the first day of the tournament. On the second day, Judson will compete with another possible contender for the Gold, the TABC third-ranked Summer Creek Bulldogs in what is sure to be a must-see game.

Viewers will also want to keep a close eye on the Westside Wolves. Seventh-ranked Westside had an impressive 32-6 season last year and will compete against the Cypress Creek Cougars for a shot at the Gold.

Converse Judson joins 31 other girls’ teams 48 boys’ teams from across the Houston region and the state of Texas to play in this weekend’s prestigious basketball tournament.
