Pearland Dawson
Dawson High School, Pearland Independent School District’s second high school, will welcome 2,000 students when it opens at its permanent home in August 2009. The district broke ground on the 4A campus in May 2007.
The 360,000-square-foot facility features 65 classrooms, 15 science labs, eight computer labs and a first-class auditorium. Athletic facilities include competition baseball and softball fields, eight tennis courts, a soccer field, two practice football fields, a junior varsity football field and a running track.
DHS was named for the late Glenda Dawson, a former Pearland High School teacher, Texas state representative and longtime advocate of public education. In November 2006, Pearland voters passed a school bond referendum to build the campus.
