MTI MOMENT #1

There have been many great games in the 20-year history of the McDonald’s Texas Invitational Basketball Tournament.

San Antonio Madison vs. Duncanville, 2008
Legendary high school boys’ basketball coach John Valenzuela brought his San Antonio Madison team to the tournament for the first time in 2008. They made it to the Division I Gold Championship game against Duncanville, coached by Phil Neely. Ranked Number 1 in the nation that year, Duncanville proved a formidable challenge. Duncanville had three NCAA Division One recruits on the court that day. Duncanville breezed through the early round games with little competition and were favored against Madison. In a very hard-fought game, Madison upset Duncanville in double overtime.
